Dr. Burton Surick is the Program Director for the surgical residency program at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. He graduated from the Boston University combined BA/ M.D. 6 year medical program in 1986 and completed his surgical residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in 1991. Dr. Surick also completed an advanced surgical endoscopy Fellowship under the direction of Dr. Shinya in 1992, as well as a laparoscopic Fellowship under the direction of Dr. Rosser.
Dr. Surick has been a full-time faculty attending at Mount Sinai Beth Israel since finishing his training in 1992 and is one of the academic leaders in the department. He is an associate professor at the Icahn School of Medicine and the Program Director of the surgical residency.
Dr. Surick is board-certified by the American Board of surgery since 1992 and he has been recertified through 2023 and he is a Fellow of the American College of surgeons. Dr. Surick expertise includes minimally invasive treatment of morbid obesity as well as gastroesophageal reflux disease and hernias.
